About/Info

This Blog may have a frivolous exterior, but it has a Pro-Autism Heart and Purpose

Here you'll find general musings on life in Italy; and a window into our final chapter of living in the north of  the country before I move south with Umberto. There'll be glimpses into family life, records of Umbi's creativity, and mine, and his life as a bi-lingual, autistic, young Italian The future is thrilling, and a little daunting - and we'll be encountering exciting challenges on the way.
I'm absolutely ready for change, but I have no regrets about not "getting a life" before this.  I won't pretend it's been easy being a single parent, removed from the support of the family network I would have enjoyed if I'd remained in Norwich; but it has been a privilege to be at home and present with my children while they have grown up, and I highly esteem the mature young adults they've become. When Filippo left for University in England in October 2015, I experienced a sense of space opening up. It wasn't that his presence at home had burdened me. Rather, until then I'd lived his upbringing as an extension of my creativity, and the space I felt was more about the closing of a chapter on a job completed well.
I love the idea that The Universe hates a void and, if it finds one, it will rush in to fill it. I've seen this mechanism in action so often in my own life. This time, it's sewing that has galloped in on a white charger to fill the space that Filippo has left, and I'm so happy to welcome it back. Besides oddments for the children when they were babies, I haven't sewn for twenty years and I'm loving the challenge and the creativity.
Getting my head around setting up a blog has been another element to fill the space. I tend to be very independent and a bit of a perfectionist and I've found it incredibly difficult and frustrating being unable to help myself with this, needing to rely on the goodwill of others to offer help. But it's good to push personal boundaries, and I know it will be worth it. I can't wait to have my blog up and running properly. It'll be fun ..... and (be warned) I'll be exposing you to some of the clothes I make too!!!
I believe true success in life is measured by the (often painful) deeply enriching experiences we've lived rather than the things we’ve acquired, whether they be material or conceptual. This success is a state which brings the serenity to share and include and to embrace change. Whenever I've dared to listen quietly to my intuition as it's encouraged me to dream creatively, it has always guided me well.
They say, "You reap what you sow".
It’s today that we can sow a good tomorrow for ourselves  and for everyone touched by our lives. Sx

Sally.         Osare per essere "Rari".
